Selecting Enrichment Partners for 21st-Century Skill Building

Students need 21st-century skills because the modern world is rapidly changing, and they will need different skills and competencies to succeed in the future workforce. Many jobs that exist today did not exist a few decades ago, and many jobs that will exist in the future are not yet known. At Kodely, we recognize that, and our workshops are tailored to help students develop skills that will enable them to adapt to the changing job market and succeed in whatever career they choose.

Finding a good after-school enrichment partner can be a daunting task, but there are a few steps that the Kodely team suggests you can take to make the process easier:

1. Define your needs and goals: Before you start searching for an after-school enrichment partner, it’s important to define what you’re looking for. Determine what goals you want your extended day or after-school program to touch on, what you want your child to participate in, and what specific goals you have in mind. Kodely’s programs are great additions to developing STEM offerings for your students while helping them develop their social-emotional learning skills.

2. Ask for recommendations: Reach out to other parents in your community and ask for recommendations and referrals. The Kodely team is always able to provide case studies and examples of how our program runs with other partners and the impact we’ve had on the students we work with.

3. Consider the staff and the team: The quality of the staff can significantly affect the program’s quality. Look for after-school programs with well-trained, experienced staff members who are passionate about working with children.

4. Visit the program: Once you have narrowed down your options, visit the programs you are considering. Observe a class or activity and ask questions. This will give you a better understanding of the program and its approach. The Kodely team offers site visits to our workshop sites in your area, making it easy for you to get a glimpse into the curriculum and specialty workshop offerings our programs center around.
